Edit, Add, Appreciate

Edit- School's out for summer. But work is not. In this household we are trying to find a balance such that folks can live here during the day, but that the house not be a shambles when I come home from work. I am used to doing a little inspection as I head out the door to work- beds made, counters wiped, sink empty, loose stuff picked up, and generally when I come home it is still pretty close to that. Not so on these lazy days of summer! And it has turned me into a shrill and ugly woman. I would like to find some kind of a place of balance here.

Add- I'm not reading anything! I need a good book. Suggestions?

Appreciate- Today is my sweet friend Lydia's 9th birthday. When her parents were pregnant with her, they asked if I would be interested in being a part of the delivery and I was pretty dang honored. I attended childbirth classes with them, and I got to go when the time came. I got to see my friend Cindy in a whole new light and she became my hero as she stuck out hour after hour of contractions and exhaustion set in. In the end, she had to have a c-section, but not before trying everything else possible. I may never get to be a part of anything so special again, and I so so appreciate getting to be there with them, and getting to see Lydia so soon after her birth.

Good luck with a balanced house for the summer! The last book I read was the Girls from Ames, Iowa. It is a true story of an enduring group of friends, their struggles, joys and the fun and challenges of being friends.
I am now reading the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. My favorite last year or the year before was The Brooklyn Follies, if you haven't read it.
Childbirth is truly a wonder. I never ceased to be awed by it.

I just finished a lovely book which you can borrow. Cultivating Delight: A Natural History of my Garden by Diane Ackerman. It was a 5 senses read; I could see, hear, smell, taste, and feel everything she wrote about. It's here on my pile of finished books for you anytime. Carrie
